Question Regarding Amp and sub wiring

Hey guys. I just bought another amp, BD1000 A.1. Problem is, I have the subs hooked up to it, and for some reason, it's not pounding at all. This really sucks. I had a punch 800 A.2 hooked up to the subs before and it hit pretty nice, but now with the BD, it only hits high bass. So I adjusted the frequency and the gains on the amp, and it still sounds like crap. Any suggestions on what I need to do to get this up and running right. Could it be the way I have it wired??

possible solutions 2 ur fosgate prob

if u check out the specs the bd1000 produces all its power at 1 ohm....however at 4 ohms, which the 800.2 was running, the bd1000 only puts out 500 watts rms....the 800.2 at 4 ohms puts out like 800 to a 4 ohm bridged load....

the bd1000 is a great amp if u can get a 1ohm load going, but from my experience with my friends, it's a pain in the ass

Any idea how to change it to a 1ohm load?

my thoughts

some of my friendz have toyed with the idea of adding resistors to a circuit to the desired load that we want since a speaker system is basically a circuit....however no one, to my knowledge have successfully done this...

the conventional method is to either wire your subs in series or parallel

if u wire speakers in series then u multiply the resistance
i.e. 2 4ohm speakers will create an 8ohm load

if u wire speakers in parallel then u divide the resistance
i.e. 3 6ohm subs will create a 2 ohm load....

so i guess wut i m saying is that u can get 4 4ohm 2 2ohm subs, wire them in parallel and then squeeze out the 1000 watts rms that the bd is capable of producing

That's how I had them wired. Looks like the amp was messed up. Thanks for the post.
