Hello everyone,

I am driving a 2000 TL, but i have a question about install the speaker in the doors. Is it ture to install a 6.5' speaker in to the doors have to first install 3/4" spacer rings in all four doors for speakers ? Do you have to put spacer ring in order to install new speakers ?

 

The OEM speakers use a spacer ring that has a rear cover to act as a water shield. THis prevents speakers that are larger on the rear than the OEM speakers from fitting.

The options are:

1) Make new spacers. Best sounding option.

2) Use plastic spacer rings (Autotoys has some).

3) Take an air saw and hack out the back of the water shield. Most common method.
