I am planning to install an amp for my mids and higs... The question is - do I need a crossover??? I know that the factory head unit has a lead for the factory sub amp and runs the mids and highs itself. But I am running an amp to power my subs already, and I disconnected the factory sub. Now I want to run another amp to power aftermarket mids and highs so I don't drown them out with the installed subs...

If I want to run two amps, is the factory head unit capable of running them both or should I invest in a two-way crossover???

Sure the headunit can handle it. The line converter will do the work. But you will need a crossover for the interior mids and highs if you want full sound definition.

 

So 2 amps and a crossover???

most amps have built in xovers, no? unless you want more control...

 

Well most factory head units only have one line out... Running two amps require two... That is the reason I am asking about a crossover...
