Talking programming new remotes and keys

Just curious, is there a way to program additional remote controls to the factory alarm or a way to program additional immobilizer keys into the factory system? I know the dealers can do this, but I'd like to be able to do it at home.

Not a chance. Just think, if it was that easy, someone could swipe your keys, press a blank, program it, give you back your keys, and then wait till the opertune time to steal your car.

I was told it was quite expensive to have new keys made for our car. Don't lose them.

You can have a total of three remotes for your car. to program them do the following.
1. turn the ignition switch on.
2. within 1-4 sec. push the remote lock or unlock button with remote aimed at the rec. in the passenger multiplex unit. (This is by the glove box).
3. within 1-4 sec turn the iginition switch off.
4. within 1-4 sec. turn the iginition switch on.
5. within 1-4 sec. push the remote lock or unlock button aime at the rec.
6. within 1-4 sec. turn the iginition switch off.
7. within 1-4 sec turn it on.
8. within 1-4 sec sec. push the remote lock or unlock button while aimed at the rec.
9. within 1-4 sec turn the iginition switch off.
10. within 1-4 sec turn the iginition switch on.
11. within 1-4 sec push the remote lock or unlock while aimed at the rec.
12. confirm that you hear the sound of the door lock actuators within 1-4 sec. push the lock or unlock again.
13. within 10 sec. aim the remotes (up to threee) that you want to set at the rec. and press the lock or unlock buttons. confirm that you hear the sound of the door lock actuators after each remote is set.
14. Turn off the iginition and remove the keys.
15 confirm that the remotes work.

These instruction are from service manual of a 99TL and should work for all years.

Your Key is another story. It can only be programmed by the dealer, and they cost about $100.00 ea. There is someone selling them on ebay for $25.00, they you have to have them cut $3-5 and then programmed at the dealer $60.00. No cheap way on this.

Hope it helps

Holy sh!t, it cost that much to make a key? I was told that it cost about 10-15 dollars at the dealer to make a copy of the key and reprogrammed. I don't need another key or anything but I was thinking of making a copy just in case. Has anyone got a extra key?

Help please

Hello I have a 1999 Acura TL, all of a sudden my emote for my car is acting funny. It opens my trunk and the doors but it won’t close the door. Do you have any idea what this problem might be?
