Problems with system, possibly the amp?

I have had my stereo installed 4 some time now, 3 years or so and have not had any major issues. In the last two weeks I now have a ear piercing noice coming from the rear 6x9, and the rear speakers will drop in volume. Some days it will work fine and other days it goes back to making a very loud wine. It cuts on and off depending on bumps that in the road. Today it was going on and off when I was idling at a light. It will also have distortion like a radio but I will have it playing a cd. The headunit is a z1 and my two amps are alpine. My tweeters are blown and will be replaced once i figure out what is going on. My main question is what can I do about making sure the amp is functioning properly, it reads 14.0 and cuts on and off as usual.

what amperage are your fuses? if you are using low amp fuses your system will cut on and off like that. whatever amp you are using go the next one higher and if that doesnt work go the next on higher til it doesnt cut off anymore. it could also be that your amp is over heating or you have a bad ground.

the noise could be engine noise, somtimes you will pick up engine noise when you have an aftermarket system. it also doesnt hurt to check all your wiring too

If the amp was cutting out, wouldn't the music totally cut off? My music only drops down like I turned the volume down. Also the fuses in the amp have worked perfectly since I got the amps 2 years ago and I have never had this problem, nor have I ever changed them. I will check the wiring of the system or better yet find a shop that will trouble shoot it because I had a shop in cali set the system up since there was custom work done. If it was alt/engine noise wouldn't the sound go up and down say with the tach? This is a high pitched noise and it stays the same no matter what I do, change the channel, raise or lower the volume...if that helps

hmm well engine noise sometimes stay constant, it doesnt always go with the engine. what kind of amp is it? is it a 4 channel amp?

if it is, maybe one of the channels is burning out, or if u have subs only the subs will cut out. but then again, if you wired the speakers to the factory outlets and then to the amp, that would explain why it seems like you lower the volume, becuase they are no longer being powered by the amp. lemme know though.

I found out what it was, I took apart the dash to expose the back of the z1, and touched some of the wires. When I touched the wires it made my problems come back, I'm not familiar with the wiring so I just jimmy rigged that sum bitch and will get it looked at. The engine noise, static went a way when i stabilized the wires. I didn't want to take the z1 out and pull all the wires out and then be clueless. My problem is fixed 4 now, I probably will get my boy to check it out. My worst fear was the 4 channel breaking. I have a mono and a 4 channel by the way.
