Power Source for TSX DVD player

Okay I think I got everything intact and although I really hate doing electrical work, I guess I'm going to have to do this myself.

So for the DVD unit, I decided on the Alpine DVA 5210:

It seems to fit all of my needs for WMA, MP3 player, and at the same time DVD player. The only thing that troubles me, is will that player require that dancing step of pushing the brake pedal and pumping the hand brake?

As far as a visual signal, I'll purchase domofnavitv's RGB converter, and as far as audio, I like what CJams did in this thread, and it seems to be my only option to connect an AUX3 input, unless blitzsafe puts out that adaptor to keep my XM signal sometime here in the near future.

The only issue I'm still researching, is the power source to the Alpine head unit. I asked CJams and from what I understand, he used the factory amp for power which I don't get because then I kinda don't understand what is powering the OEM Navi unit.

The only thing I can think of is the 12V power outlet as a source, near the "NOT AN ASHTRAY". What are you guy's opinions on that. If I go that route, that pretty much kills it use, as an outlet, right?

I would also use the power wire for the OEM amp to power your DVD player.

Look at this wiring diagram.

The color of power wire should not have changed for 05, but if it did, it is still in the same pin location.

Use T-taps or butt connectors and connect your power wires to the ACC and Constant power in the diagram at the OEM amp.

I would consider using that ground too...

thanks elduderino, as far as T-taps is it going to be able to tap the wire adequately? I never really used them, but I do know they sort of puncher the wire and touch the wire. I might actually want to instead use butt connectors, but do they have a three way connector of them? Thanks by the way for the info.

Butt connectors work very well if used properly. They require you to cut the power wire, stuff one end of the cut wire in one end of the butt connector, and stuff the other end of the cut wire and the new wire into the other end of the butt connector.

Installers do that all the time.
