Power & Remote

I am installing a new amp this weekend and I need to know the easiest way to run the power through the firewall and I also need to know where I should run my remote wire to and what I should connect it to.

I have a 2005 non navi TSX

Thanks,

Jason.

For the power wire...there is a rubber gromet on the driver's side firewall. Just above the pedals.

as Brewboy told me indirectly:

Remove rear seat for access to stock amp. Unplug wiring harness to stock amp. Remove stock amp (optional) and stock sub(best practice) - leave wiring harnesses in place. The wiring harness that you unplugged from your stock amp contains an orange wire - this is your remote power turn-on for your new amp, so splice into it and extend it to your new amp. Run new fused power cable from battery to your new amp. Ground new amp to body.

Worked just fine for me!!!

(looks like running the power line to a TSX is similar to the CL)

Good luck with the job, and be happy you have 4 doors. It was a super pain in the @#$@# getting the wires to the trunk in a 2 door. (atleast for me it was

Yep for the TSX there is a rubber gourmet above the dead pedal. There's already a factory wire running through. Run the power wire through there from inside the car. And then reach around under the factory strut bar when it's long enough and you should be able to grab in and pull it through to the battery. Just run the power down the driver side. Panels are pretty easy to pop off.

For the remote in the TSX you can get it from the factory amp harness, behind the storage bin or NOT AN Ashtray, or I heard you can get it somewhere in the trunk where it's ran to the FM Antenna amp.

If you want and easy but kind of ghetto way, just tap into one of the 12v power outlets and use that. It will turn on when your car turns on and off regardless of weather the radio is on though.
