Post your subwoofer setup

Right now I've got 4 components hooked up to a 4channel amp and an aftermarket HU with my stock subwoofer disconnected. Just picked up a mono amp and was wondering what kind of subwoofer setups you guys all have.

Should I find a small sub and replace the stock one or just forget about it and get a box for the trunk?

You won't have much luck replacing the stock sub. Go with a box.

Here's my sub setup, although it's a 3G-(JL Audio 10w6, Alpine PDX 1.600 amp):

see my sig...been rocking for 5+ years. I would not try and put in a new one in the stock location - if you want to save space just get 1 sub in a sealed box and go with it. My box is only about 2 cubic feet total - I have the big amp mounted on top and the sub amp on the side so it really does not take up that much space. I have the navigation unit and the box comes out to about 1/2 the depth of the navi unit.

3 Batteries (2 yellow tops, one acura)
All 0 Gauge wiring to alternator/battery and all important grounds are 0 gauge, all wiring is tsunami
Total of 6 gold battery terminals and 4 distribution blocks
LED display ANL fuse holder by tsunami
2 power acoustic OV15500d's strapped to a 1.5ohm load (biampable)
2 JBLW15GTi woofers 5000 Watts a piece in a pretty basic box, ported, running at the aforementioned 1.5ohms (each coil is 6 ohms) when I competed I was around 148 or so, with my back seats out of the car and the subs facing the cabin. It wasn't a very "musical" setup, just loud. I dont compete anymore tho so I have it around 145 now wih the seats in and such, subs facing the trunk.

960/4 Amp running highpass for my highs

highs are infinity kappa components in the front
infinity kappa coaxials in the back with a jbl gto tweeter.
all tweeters are flush mount, like they should be. (stop sticking tweeters on your A pillar)

20 Farad Capacitor
Memphis 9volt Line driver
Custom amp rack with blue neon
headrest screens (8inches)
Rearview mirror screen (7inches)
xbox360 with 170Watt inverter
JVC double din usb/dvd headunit

Im sure I missed something but oh well, thats most of it.

Yes, well actually when I purchased the car the spare had a gash on the sidewall so it was useless anyways. So i chucked all those parts. Plus my car is too low to fit the floor jack.

I would recommend a Diamond D3 10" and the Diamond D1 400.1 or the D3 600.1 amp. They are damn good subs, sound and price wise!!!

I just did a buttload of work to my 2002 TL a few weeks ago. Went with an Eclipse Double Din, that has nav, bluetooth, xm and ipod controls. The amps are both US Amps. One is a 750 W RMS mono block that powers a single 12" RE Sub in a sealed enclosure, and the other is a 4 channel 300W RMS going to Infinity Kappa Components. I also added a Shuriken battery, which powers it all and has 0 Gauge running to the main battery. All of my ham radio gear is also tapped into this auxillary battery, and have remote heads mounted up front. (No bulky radios to mount, just the faces) As soon as I become a real member (15 days), I'll post some photos. You can also view them on my facebook page. (facebook.com/dtipton)

So run a single 8 on a couple hundred watts... It'll sound cleaner, play lower, and get louder if/when you want it to than the bazooka tubes, plus it'll look a whole hell of a lot better...
