I was looking at the Pioneer FH-P8000BT for my TL. It's a double din CD receiver with Bluetooth and iPod functions. I did some searching and could not find all of my answers clearly.

Will it fit?
Do I have to do anything else besides replacement? (Bypass EQ)
How will the new unit affect the sound with stock speakers, amp, and sub?

Most importantly if I pay to have it installed should I give special instructions pertaining to our stock Bose unit? A lot of trouble just to use my iPod.

I can attest that a new HU (and bypassing the stock eq) will sound like crap. The stock speakers are made to work with the eq since they're not voiced very well. But I've also got some speakers that I'll be installing next week.

You may be fine running the HU through the eq though if you don't want to change out the speakers.

I heard the opposite in other post, that a new HU will make it sound better. It sounds logical that the Bose speakers will not sound as good when not in coordination with the Bose HU and EQ. I'm just going to buy a whole new setup.

and apparently the stock speakers are 2-ohms and most HUs are 4, so that's going to contribute mightily to the crapola sound..

The HU will fit just look for the kit on ebay for like 40 bucks or metra.com there is a diy how to make one or you can buy one from unclad for like 100+
Unless you do the diy for keeping your sub with aftermarket HU you will lose the sub I took mine out cause I dont care about it I got 2 10" Infinity's

I just replaced my stock HU with the KENWOOD KDC-BT742U. Has built in BT and ipod controls etc. If your budget doesn't include new speakers the stock ones sound really pretty good. Alot of it has to do with the settings for your deck. I am able to control my factory sub independently. I don't remember where, but there is a full thread on how to do it. Good luck!
