Possible Subsitute For Rgb Converter

i just opened up a small screen from a company called nesa and ive look at a few but they all pretty much have a built in RGB converter in them since their screens all use RGB signals.....heres my idea.....fine a cheap screen possibly 150 bucks or under....and what not....as long as it has a composite input...then crack that baby open and tap into the R, G, B, C wire.....and run it to the navi....viola....what do you get...now you can have your video source running in to an aftermarket screen and having it installed in the back seat area or something while its sending the signal to the navi at the same time.....all you EE out their help me out...i know it works but i need help explaining to those not familiar with electronics..... just an idea as i was talking with D0llAR...about the navi mod....

Just as you do. I've been trying to get Pioneer AVC RGB1, and all of them are out of stock. And I cannot get it. Does it have to be RGB or is there something else can substitute? I need help too.

Hey AsianKid

Are there any other parts that you know of that will enable me to do the Navi to dvd mod? The pioneer can't be the only one. Will anything marked "composite video to RGB" work?

yeah pretty much any screen that has a composite input uses a internal rgb converter to put pics on the lcd screen, so anything with a screen and a composite input should work if you live near fullerton i would be glad to help you look into it and if possible i will help find the rgb and composit points for you on your aftermarket screen hope that helps

Jon,

Whats this screen that you got, where did you get it, and how much was it. I was thinking about this same thing but those damn AV monitors still run in the 250-300 range for small ones like 5 inch. I think that should work just fine actually. As long as the monitor runs off the standard 12VDC which it should since its made to be installed in a car. The only thing that i would be concerned about is the signal quality coming out of the converter. If you are running 2 screens on it in parallel, i dont know how powerfull the RGB signal coming out would be. Dont forget that you also need the VSYNC signal otherwise you cant do anything, but if your monitor does that than it would work great. So please let me know where you found your converter.. thx

Naqeeb, i just took the Nesa Screen from my friend prelude to help him with mounting it in the visors, but when i opened it up i notice the rgb+c wires were also used, i'll try to find out what model it is but it shoudl be the same on all the screens, the wires are even color coded to help you find the rgb points....and the reason i got them so cheap is cus my friend had a hookup and it was only 300 bucks for 2 5.6 inch screens
