Is it possible to remove the NAVI from the TSX?
Is it possible to remove the NAVI from the TSX?
I like the TSX a lot but I have the opportunity to get brand new fully loaded Mazda 6s for about $5000 less than the base price of the TSX. So the Mazda may win.
Problem is that I like the TSX Navi a lot. I was thinking that if I found a totaled TSX w/ Navi at some point I might be able to buy the components off the salvage yard and install them as an aftermarket system in the Mazda 6. The screen would fit perfectly under the storage lid at the top of the center console in the Mazda.
So could all of the components be removed from a TSX and then put back together in another car and function properly? Does anybody have the schematics for the Nav system? I would be pretty involved to get all the components.
Screen
steering wheel controls
microphone
antenna
DVD player
all connecting wires

simple answer, no. You would be able to get the 3 main componants: Screen, DVD, GPS antenna, what what all of the other sensorts that show movement, speed, etc? And even if you got them all, how could you interface them with the Mazda?
It would be much simpler to go out and buy the Alpine Navi from a store and install it in the car. If it's the install style of the TSX you like, a good shop should be able to recreate that look for you.
I don't know where Nyack NY is, but www.streeteffectz.com is in NJ and they have the skills to be able to do anything you want.
Good luck and injoy your new car, just make sure to come back and post pics if you get it done!
