Possible cheap alternative to the SNHOND3 by hacking 08A31-0E1-010 cable

Ok I was doing some research about getting my iPod and future XM into my TSX. In reading about the hack required to get the SNHOND3 to work with nav TSX cars it looks to me like what they are actually doing is just hacking into the audio lines of the adaptor. If this is the case then we could easily hack a 08A31-0E1-010 to perform as an audio in. Has anyone tired this and failed? I am assuming that it is possible that the electronics in the SNHOND3 are only really for the CD changer, and the RCA ports are just pass through. This would mean that Accord Grey and Orange are the two positive channels for the RCA pair, and that the sheild is ground, and we could just solder RCA's onto a hacked off 08A31-0E1-010. If not I may go and try it and report back. –Von Barron

I don't think this is correct. Everyplace it is listed as a "bus" The interesting fact is that there are only two connectors it uses, bus- and bus+, which would make sense in that scenario.
