I was expecting a HUGE difference once I installed the DX6 speakers, but there wasn't. There is a slight improvement with the highs and the sound from the speakers do sound a little more open (probably is from the basket being cut off). Plus, I put dynamat on the doors. I would say there is about 20% improvement to the overall sound. I compared by installing one DX6 speaker on the front right and left the stock on the front left. I then use the balance and fader control to compare the stock and the DX6 speaker.

BTW, I did install all the mods from the DX6 project.

Nope, a DX6 is a DX6, and a BIG improvement you WON'T see. Amplify them and that's a different story.

 

Just a curios question, what type of improvement were you expecting ? After I swapped out the stock with DX6, the high became really high with DX6 and I have to turn down the treble level. As far as the "crispiness", I think DX6 produces better sound quality but if you really need a major sound improvement, you have to upgrade the whole system.

Hey Drcookie, it seems that everyone (or almost everyone) who had it done has very good and love the results. From that, I expected to notice the difference right away like black and white. But, I had to listen carefully on the highs and the lows (before and after) to notice the slight improvement. I guess my expectations were really high when I started the DX6 install.

I have no complains, since the set of DX6 speakers that I bought from ebay was really cheap. It's still worth it.

 

Aspec, did you loose the stock eq? The stock EQ is designed to work with the stock hu/and speakers. Normaly changing only the speakers wouldn't produce much diff. Actually it should make it worse. If you have seen the schematics on the you would see why. This is for the 00-03 modles I believe

 

dx6 r good spkrs i had two sets, You need an amp for them without power you got crap..... spkr install should cost 35-45 $

not sure if i'm following you. did u guys swap ur bose speakers with the polks without changing the headunit and amps that come with the bose system. I thought that only the stock speakers work with the whole bose system. also, why did u all use polk's instead of infinity refernce or jbl's. i've heard polk's and in my opinion, the infinity's sound better and might improve ur system's sound quality overall, even more.
