Exclamation Please help with this...can't find answer on this site

I have a 2002 Acura TL-S wo/Navigation.

I am changing the factory headunit as CD's keep getting stuck.

I want to maintain factory speakers and subwoofer (at this time).

I have read that I can use the subwoofer RCA out of the aftermarket HU (Eclipse CD8445) by cutting off the RCA connectorsand joining the wires to the appropriate stock subwoofer wires behind the head unit/EQ.

My question is: Can anyone tell me clearly (and not just the color of the wire) exactly which ones can be spliced to the RCA subwoofer out on the new headunit? I have downloaded pics of the stock headunit and EQ diagrams.

I have looked through this site and I cannot find detailed answers. Closest thing is how to do it at the level of the subwoofer but I do not want to do all that wiring from HU to sub.

HELP!!!

Daven

Not sure about that, however, I would recommend NOT cutting the RCA's off the new head unit. If that in fact does work, I would recommend buying an RCA cable to plug into the head unit's femalr RCA connectors and cutting that cable. (better to ruin a $5 cable than cutting connectors off an expensive head unit)

I guess my message was not that clear. I plan on cutting the RCA connectors off the cable, not the HUnit.

All you do is connect RCA's to the "sub out" of HU. Then you run the RCA to the silver box behind the rear seat and cut them & wire it according to what wires Streeteffectz said to use.

I thought you could either connect the RCA cable to subwoofer out behind the HU or hook it up at the level of the amplifier. It seems like this hook-up requires both HU and amplifier.

Can you clarify?

If you pop out the back seat to gain access to the factory sub amp, you'll see a connector going into the amp and 2 of the wires will be as follows:

blue with a green trace (+)

-and-

orange with a blue trace (-)

All you need to do is run an RCA cable from your aftermarket headunits subwoofer output and connect it to the above two wires accordingly. For those who don't quite understand, you basically cut the end off the RCA cable that you've just run to the factory subwoofer amp and the center leg of this cable will connect to the blue/green wire and the shield to the orange/blue wire.

You could do this right behind the headunit at the EQ unit, but, there are a couple blue/green and a couple orange/blue and I didn't want to confuse anyone

Since he did not specify which wires to use on the EQ your better off running the rca's to the amp.

Thanks for the advice.

What is the best and most concealed way of running the RCA cable from the HU to the amplifier behind the back seat?
