Ok I got my sub, now what amp should I get?

I just got my xtant 1244 hex sub brand new online, got a good price for it, about half of retail value. Now I need to pick a good amp to power it. I am leaning towards either a kicker or an xtant. I was wondering, does the amp affect the sound of the sub significantly? I want something that can bump pretty well, yet at the same time be adjustable since this is actually my parents' car. DOes anyone have opinions on these companies, or other suggestions? I would really appreciate them, since this is my first time upgrading my audio. Also, until I get my amp, would it be ok to connect the xtant sub to the bose amp? Thanks.

How much do you want to spend? And no, don't hook it up to the Bose amp. Have you already mounted the sub in a box, if so what?

I think I want to keep cost under 400 hopefully. THing is, if I get the sub online, I will probably be able to get much more expensiev ones in that price range, maybe a little higher. Also, I am going to get a custom box from the audio store in my area. Shoot I wish I could connect the sub to the bose amp, at least for the time being...I can't wait to get it working...oh well, I guess I will wait until the amp comes in.

With total respect for Ron and keeping it in the family, in addition to Ron, I think you/anybody else should also consider talking to owner Kirk Neal at www.ampman.com. He drives a 2000 Laguna TL but I don't think he has joined these forums although I have told him about them. He offers true audiophile equipment at great prices, his customer service is equal to Snook's and he is very well versed in audio design. He doesn't carry the mass marketed stuff, rather he carries Brax, Helix, Magnat, Butler, CDT, OZ, Lunar, Synopsis, etc. to name a few. For a couple of the brands he is the only authorized dealer in the US in addition to offering warranties above that of the original mfg. He is absolutely no pressure and respects all other mfgs in his discussions. Both Ron and Kirk should be consulted to help you put together a system you'll be happy with. IMHO

amps online

Make sure if you get ur amp online, that it comes with a warranty. And if so, how long. And for sure if you can spend the money get the xtant amp, they are one of the best. If i was you i would check out the price at Sound Advice, simply because for like thirty more bucks you can get an extended warranty. Ive blown a few amps and that really sucks. So save up and get the right one.
