TSX: OEM CD Changer/Stereo/Amp cable
OEM CD Changer/Stereo/Amp cable
I just bought an '04 TSX Non-nav, and it seems like the PO got cute with the stereo wiring. It looks like at one point he may have had a stereo installed in the cubby, then pulled the stereo and reinstalled the cubby before selling the vehicle. Anyway, the CD changer doesn't look to be getting any power, the radio works fine, but absolutely nothing happens when you press the CD button, or try to load/eject. I pulled the cubby to take a look, and there are quite a few cut/spliced wires/electrical tape. I stuck my hand in the back to verify that the cd changer is in fact plugged in, and it does appear to be.
I'm taking the car in to the dealer on Saturday, to have the circuit board in the stereo replaced, the one that goes bad and kills all the radio/hvac lights, and I'm going to ask them to take a look at the cd changer as well. I'm figuring the PO screwed up the wiring and killed the power to the CD changer, that is, if it isn't just broken to begin with. If it's the cable, I'm sure the dealer will recommend replacing the full cable between the amp/stereo/cd changer, so my question's are:
what is this cable technically called, and where could I find one online? I've taken a look at http://www.acuraoemparts.com/ but can't find anything.

I looked at it some more last night. It looks like all I'm going to need is a Metra 71-1721 harness, to replace the previous owner's hacked up mess. When I unplugged the harness from the stereo, several of the wires came apart, and one pulled completely out of the harness. Nice!
Thanks. I bought that metra part and took it to a car audio place today, and they installed it and fixed the mess for $35, so that wasn't too bad. I go to the dealer tomorrow to get that faulty circuit board replaced, which should fix all the HVAC lights. I really doubt it will fix the cd changer though. From what I'm reading, to fix the cd changer requires a whole new unit. If that's the case, I figure I'll just have them install an aftermarket deck in the cubby, with the oem mp3 player bracket.
