Noob Amp Question

Fourthmeal, trunk monkey, eggyhustles, mattastick where are you guys help me LOL! hope I spelled your names right

Picking up an RE audio 10" sub this Friday from a member on car audio forum and want to know what amp should I run. Not to sure how many watts I should get. Last time I bought a amp and hooked it up to my subs I blew my subs. Subs where 500 Watts RMS each and my amp was 1000 so I dont see why it would have blown, but I am a noob to some aspects of car audio including this one. LOL

Here is the sub I am getting
WoofersEtc.com - RE10 - RE Audio 10" 250 Watt Dual 4 Ohm RE Series Subwoofer

Please let me know what is the correct amp wattage I should be running for one of these.

Thanks

It's overkill for his setup, but he'll never have to purchase an amp again. If you have the coin for it, get it.

Wire the sub up to 8 ohms. Should give you 200w

Over kill yes but set the gains correctly. And as you said that amps good for so many applications. They run about 300 shipped used from ca.com or caco

Google sketchup! Its all I use. Then of course winisd pro to design the enclosure specs.

Literally what i do is fire up GS, then WinISD, and run them at the same time. I model up my ideal box size in winisd, then I start sketching a box that will get that spec to work. If I find that my box is unreasonable, then I go back to winisd and see where any adjustment can be made to the airspace or tune (if ported), and flip-flop back and forth until I find a balance.

Results as an example:

OP, what's your budget for the amp? With that sub, you really only need a couple hundred watts. Then again, if you have the cash in your budget for an SAZ-1500D, please save yourself the hastle and get one. They're great amps, and like eggy said, you'll never need to buy another amp. I regreted selling my previous 2 so much I bought another.

SS DTR amps are cheap as hell right now, and very, very powerful. Pick your poison.

Well for one example woofersetc.com has the 1.1700 for $230, and the 1.1400 for $190.

But on ebay you might be able to do even better. They definitely do rated power.
