a nice 12

took the TL to the shop, need new struts $550 for both front. Went next door to an audio shop and now i really gotta get at least a nice 12" sub. But before I do, what should i look out for? I dont want Thundering bass. Im thinking 1000 watt amp. Basically i dont want to ruin anything on the car, i kinda wanna keep the sound stock"ish" but with at least some bass. It would be nice to run a sub without messing with the battery or alternator, Educate me pleasee on what the best choce for me could be.

Thanks.

Ok man well if you dont want major bass why would you get a 1k amp? I assume you just want a nice sq system(one that sounds tight and clean). I would suggest maybe a good 10 or 8" sub so you can have trunk room. Maybe pair that with a good 500 rms amp. And be good. Eggy and fourth will chime in later im sure. They always suggest really good products. But who knows if you will listen. You would be better off to order things from online other that getting them at a store. You will get better products and at a cheaper price.

I have a 10inch sub pushed by 400rms and its perfect. 1k watts is overkill.

If you just want some fill in the lower octave, a 300-400w 10 would suffice.

true i do want something tight and clean "sounding". maybe not 1000 watts but something that will give me the option of a mild to a nice thump so im thinking again a single 12 should do it.Ive heard of guys running 10's and were satisfied , so i might shop around.

Happy Thankgiving....

You've obviously never worked with the quality of equipment that some of us have. I'm sorry, but the Kicker and Memphis can't hold a candle to companies like DC, SA, SSA, etc. Just not going to happen.

1. There's only 1 really loud guy running Memphis that I know of, and that's Corey J, bassracing 159.9 class with his Memphis van. He's got 16 15's. He's also the defending SS 5+ North American champion at over 165db. If you look for Sundown, DC, etc, you will see several World Champions on each of their teams.

2. Subwoofers don't "push" wattage. Amps output wattage. Subs output air pressure.

Not meaning to offend. But if you've never heard of them then your not big into audio. A few years back when I started to learn more about audio and get deeper into it. I learned of those brands. Then I switched to them and never looked back.
If that's what you like then cool, but look into sundown fi dc dd and others the quality and potential of them is incredible. Sure the solo x is nice especially being field rebuildable. But for the price you can get a killer sub for cheaper and completely smash the memphis.
And yea +1 subs dont push power amps output power
