Newbie Audio Wuestion
Newbie Audio Wuestion
Hey, just a quick question about an aftermarket head-unit. I've searched the forms but I haven't found a true answer
. Anyway, I'd like to know a little bit more about the Bose amp before I go and install my aftermarket radio (99 TL w/nav). With your standard issue Crutchfield wiring harness; does it go from the radio to the amp, or bypass the amp all together? If it plugs directly into the amp, is there an easy way to bypass it. Sorry for being such a noob but I just don't want to take it all apart and find that I need another part.

Sorry I meant Question, not westion. Anyway let me just clairify my question. Does the wiring harness hook up to the stock amp, or not, just a simple yes or no will do. Thanks everyone.
on the 99 tl (with and with out nav) there are 2 bose amps in the car. One controls the stock sub in the rear deck and the amp itself is located behind the rear seat on the passenger side.
The other amp controls the factory door locations. this amp along with the factory eq is built into the factory radio. The moment you remove the factory radio you will have automatically bypassed the amp.
All you will need to do is wire up your new radio to the wire harness that it sounds like crutchfield is providing, plug it up and go. You will however lose the stock sub, and your navi voice. I believe with a search you ought to be able to find more about retaining these features though.

Thanks Scott. Yea I plan on doing the Navi prompt mod, looks fairly simple. To heck with the stock sub, it hardly does anything. I'll probably take out the actual speaker to allow for more airflow to the cabin once I install my sub in the trunk.
