new system in the works - audiophile opinions needed

hey guys. i know i could probably get these questions ansered better on a audio forum but i trust your opinions much more.

im in the beginning stages of a new custom trunk with 2 12's, 5 channel amp, 2 farad capacitor, and components speakers (in the trunk).

price is a issue but at the same time its not because the ultimate goal is show car.

i want something like JL but more of a competition route. i know a member here has used Brahma (sp?) and said he loved it. any suggestions like that would be great.

i am also going to need a new set of components. i have polk db's in the cabin but im sure there are speakers that dont even compare to these and blow them out of the water. any suggestions on this would be helpful as well.

also another question. is there anyway to paint the woofer to match the interior of the trunk? essentially im trying to do a blue suede, so would it be possible to do a blue woofer?

thanks for reading this post and any info would be very helpful.

You are putting components in the trunk? What for?

You could look into Diamond Audio, they make good components.

And you don't want to paint a woofer.

You might be able to order them with that color from Adire Audio... contact them and ask. I'm assuming you're referring to the frames, not the cones.

You mention a 5-channel amp. Are you going with R speakers? For SQ scoring, I would suggest F speakers only.

Are you willing to do kick panels? If you'll do big ones, I would go with the Morel 5" or 6" Integra speaks with the Morel tweet centered in the cone.

If you'll do small ones, I've heard an excellent-sounding competition setup with a 1" dome tweet and a 3" dome mid in the kick (unlike a cone driver, the dome mid does NOT need an airtight enclosure behind it!) and a 5 or 6" midwoofer in the OE door location.

DLS, Morel, and Dynaudio do kits like that... I think Dyne only does the 6", and in your TL, I'm not totally sure if a Dyne 6 ould fit (comments?)

I've put the Morel 5 in a CL, with a mating spacer... so I know you could go DLS Ultimate 5/3/1 in. I think that you'd be cutting metal out for the Morel/Dyne 6 (which is really closer to a 7 in diameter). If you went with a 5-ch amp, and the dome mid/tweet on 2 ch, the door midwoofer on 2 ch, and then the subs on the mono channel, you should be OK. What power class are you wanting to compete in?

Thanks for all that info man but i think i stepped into a new class lol. its not that i want to enter audio competitions. i just want it to show quality with speakers that arent mainstream market, make sense? i want it to sound nice to me but look better. and the component speakers i would want to install in the trunk someplace.
