New Subs In!!

Finally! just put my new subs in 2 days ago, and wow! I bought the subs off of BassMechanic, who you probably know used to manufacture his own subs. and let me tell you, everything he says about his subs are true. i bought a dual 8" power mouse, which is a custom made box built specifically for these subs, loaded with 8" subs. Its a very solid box, not mention heavy - at around 100lbs its no small feat lugging it around, and you can really tell its great quality just by looking at it. also, the box has an amp rack displaying the amp behind a laser etched-design plexiglass cover with blue illumination (i dont have this cover yet, but itll be shipped soon).
at first i was a bit skeptical as to how 2 8"s would compare to my old alpine 12" type r. fear not, it was a great change. these 8"s not only hit harder, naturally, but they play just as low, probably lower, than my old 12" type r. not only that, but BassMechanic even wired everything he could to the 5 channel amp, which he ordered for me at wholesale price, that he could - power, ground, remote, speaker wire, rca's, the works. and not just that, he upgraded my wiring kit to a 4 guage IXOS one, some of the best wiring out there. So thats half the battle already done for me.
The bass sounds great!!! no distortion at all, even all the way turned up. and heres the kicker... i still have to install my head unit and components!! so its gonna sound even better!! Since i couldnt wait to put the subs in, i just wired them via 6x9 signal etc. etc.
im going out of town this wed. so hopefully by then ill have taken my car to an installer to get this all done and away with. and then ill really be bumpin!
Thank you BassMechanic for the awesome subs

thanks for the Kudos!
yea it brings back memories i still get excited everytime someone hears my invention.
it's so hard to describe online with words exactly how one proforms. it still amazes myself when i hear the feedback. i have even heard experienced shops say similar comments to its proformance after they installed one for one of my customers. shops that im sure have seen it all and done it all. for them to be impressed is somthing to really be proud of.
just last summer one that i sold about 2 years ago took best of show at a local sound off in san diego.
even though yours was already built and awaiting to be installed somewhere it became abundantly clear to me again why i stopped making them.
they are a real pain in the arse to prepare for shipping not to mention the hours that goes into each and every one i ever built. as much as i enjoyed building them it became very repetitious and mundane building them every day. i became aware i had become a factory worker for myself. when i added up all the hours and the profit i made it just didnt seem worth it anymore.
in a way it seems a shame i quit making them i really do enjoy the way they sound and so did everyone else that ever bought one. to my knowledge i do not belive there was ever 1 single unhappy customer and every single one expressed how the sound and quantity of bass from such a small enclosure exceeded their wildest expectations.
also i have never had any returned for failures even with some of the most abusive customers pounding on them.
your lucky, i can guarentee you that you are the ONLY one in the entire world that has one in a TSX. protect it, ive already had 2 customers inform me that just last year thiers was a victom of theft. now at least 2 other thieves are now enjoying my hard work at the loss of someone who deserved it a lot more than they did.
i still have parts, i may build one for my own TSX someday but being self employed in insurance i just have so limited time anymore.

ive been planning to put a 6 channel JL amp in my car to juice up the system a little and still havnt even got around to ordering it. i can get the JL 6 channel amp for about 250.00 bucks brand new with a warranty i just need to make the call and place the order.

well keep me posted, im glad your happy with it. enjoy it and ill get the cover out to you as soon as the artwork is finished. i checked and it doesent look like it will be much longer, so thanks for being patient.
you should post some pics when you get the cover installed. at night it will light up the whole trunk. and some have just popped the trunk light bulb out so everything is blue back there.

heres a good story for ya...
i just showed my friends the subs i put in without telling him what they were. after i cranked it hes like 'WOW! so what are you running? 2 12"s?"
"nope" i replied, "2 8"s"
hahahah, that brings me much satisfaction. but anyways, just trying to put into perspective what these subs can do...

sure, ill go take some pics right now. im not exactly sure how many watts are going to the sub, but i think its around 150 or so, because its only a 5 channel amp, but these subs can take up to 400 rms...

arite, first of all YES! i know the wiring is messy. i didnt use the wires i got from bassmechanic because its only a temporary set up and im using the wires from my old amp kit. Also, because of this the amp should be facing the other way, but my old ground wire was too short, so i had to face it against the rear seats. but ass you can see it doesnt really take up that much room. and once i get the plexi cover and all those wires are hidden, its gonna look siiiick. sorry for the blurry pics, but you can kinda get whats goin on here.

EDIT: hold on... lemme see whats wrong here

lol man you got the box facing the wrong way. if you think it's loud now try turning it around. the ports are supposed to face the back of the trunk

No sutpid questions when it comes to modding cars.. "some poeple do some odd things"..

And the 8 inch subs are basically in a sealed box and then the sealed box is placed inside another box with a single port. It's very bad description (from an engineer's or mechanical point of view, I know, but it will help you understand why the subs are not visbale from the front or the back.

The actual designers could tell you the diameters and everything, I was just trying to help out with the "invisable speaker" thing.

when he retakes the pictures and posts them you will see 2 ports on the side that the amp is on. there is also a neon lighted cover that says ACURA with the "A" badge on it.
i am sure pictures will follow shortly.

lol i feel your pain, you know when i hear people are still so willing to buy them it makes me feel guilty that i stopped building them. some people say that my business failed. but it is and always was clear to me that it didnt fail. i made a choice not to continue because of the time and effort it took.
even when i went through the headache of packing up acuraTSX03's box, ordering and wireing up the amp and getting the cover done i keep getting reminded of the reasons why i stopped making them.
it takes a lot of time and coupled with the fact that i have so little spare time since im running an insurance agency.

sometimes i ask myself, did i actualy like making them? well i guess the answer is Yes i did like making them, i like to work with wood and i get a lot of satisfaction every time i see one in the hands of another customer.
it's always fun because truth be told in the 2 or so years i was making them i never had 1 single person NOT 1 person ever tell me they werent totally impressed with one. personally i think that is a major achievment in any business. ive gotten emails of people begging me to make them one.

hmm i dunno i keep thinking maybe if i were to raise the price a little it might motivate me to build more. i still have 10 10" subs in stock. that would make 5 more dual 10 boxes. if the money was right and the buyer was willing to wait at least a week for a mouse box i would be inclined to build one of thoes. there would be no lighted cover because the Power mouse takes a lot more time to build than the Mouse boxes do. they all sound the same however.
i have a dual 10 mouse with integrated 800 watt class D amp installed i was using as a prototype sitting in my basement that would be a good box thats already built. i had designed it as a prototype because i was going to be selling a new line that included the amp in 400, 800, 1600 watt flavors all with different colored anodised heatsinks indicating their power level. the amp is a class d, so efficient that even after 4 hours of constant pounding the heatsink measuring only 5 inches by 7 inches was slightly warm to the touch.

i had some boxes i was keeping for memories i guess. only thing is i would not reccommend anyone with a Navi in their car buy that box. ive heard people say too much bass will mess up the naxi in the TSX.
i used to have that box installed in my TL with Navi and had no issues but i can tell you that at a local sound off that dual 10 smoked a pair of 15's in an accord at a meet i went to.
i think it was best described while demonstrating it that the car looked like someone was locked in the trunk trying to kick their way out of it LOL.

would you make anything with a single sub setup (if the money was right, of course) that can handle 1100 watts continuosly?
