Question new sub/amp install

I'm new to car stereos. I've got a 2002 TL-S. I want to start off upgrading the stereo with a new subwoofer & bass amp and would like some suggestions/comments. I'm thinking of buying an RFR3115 (15in 1000x1 rms 2 ohm) ub and a 500bd 600x1 rms, 2 ohm amp.
- First of all: would this damage the speaker because the rms of the amp is less than the speaker?
- Second: would this warrant an upgrade to my battery/alternator?
- Third: I was thinking of mounting the amp directly on the sub box, would there be any issues with this?

Are there any good sites detailing how to tap into the stock audio system, remove the bose sub & connect a new sub to the correct outputs wires?
Thnx for your help!!

TAZ :-)

The short answers would be:
no, no, and no

You really will not damage the sub. It just will not reach its full potential. As long as you do not drive the sub into severe distortion for extented periods, you should be fine.

600 watts should be not problem on the the battery or alternator. I am running 800 with no cap and no problems. The old test is, if your lights start dimming, you may need more juice.

Nothing at all wrong with mounting the amp to the box. As long as everything is good and solid, you will be fine there.

The last one, I am not sure about. You could do a search on here. I am sure there are people who have done that.
