price isnt gonna come down much, SRP is 799.99. If you go to sony-ericcson's website, they are takign pre-orders for 799.99...
the p800 is still selling for 499.99
dont look for this phone under 600.00 for at least 6-8 months..

Sorry man your friend lied to you. The p800 & p900 does not have a HFL profile only a headset profile. Trust me I know I had both. I addressed the issue with Sony (why their flagship phone lacked this feature while the cheaper models from 3 years ago did) they apologized and said there was nothing they can do. I sold my p800 and bought my p900 but still use a t68 in the car.
The price now for the p900 is $680.00 without a contract.

YouTellMeWhy,
Your statement understairs is correct. Thanks...
When I got my 610, Acura didn't say it's workable with 04TL until I'd used for 2 weeks already.
But your theory of Handsfree feature seems unassailable. Unnecessary to try...
If really so, those having P900 would get headache... Someone should tell... Thanks.
Acura website only showing these below would work with 04TL.
Nokia N-Gage
Nokia 3600
Nokia 3650
Nokia 6310i
SE Z600
SE T610/616
SE T68i
Siemens S55/S56
SE T608

Hasema the z600 has the HFL profile and will work. Its a good choice.
Rets your misleading everyone. Just because a phone has bluetooth doesnt mean it will work with the 04tl. Have you noticed that acura has not listed the phone on their site.
The p800 and p900 both due have bluetooth, but only have a headset profile, they lack a handsfree profile which is need to work with the 04TL system. I had both phones and vigerously worked on getting to work. Also with many friends who either worked for ericsson and had the phones.
They p800 and p900 will not work. Period.
PS: If you try you will be able to pair either phone to the 04tl but you will not be able to make a call or use your phone. The system will state "no phones have been found." Dont believe try it yourself.

I have asked this question to Sony Ericsson Canada and this guy whom I know is very knowledgeable and here is his response:
B]00TLOwner,
Unfortuantly the handsfree profile will not be supported on the P900/800. Our T616 however does.

I find it very hard to believe that a P900 works (and I mean more than just pair, because even the P800 can pair) with the TL.[

I have a P800, and it does NOT work. It's now sitting at the bottom of the drawer, and I am using the crappy Nokia 3600 instead.
Sony-Ericsson tech support said they have no plans to support handsfree profile in P800 through FW/SW upgrade...
Return the phone if you can! It's a ***** trying to answer the phone and shift gear / turn corner at the same time. Now, it's just one touch on the steering wheel.

The issue was not fixed by Sony as of yet but I am sure its only a matter of software.
The HCB-30 car kit does work with the p800/p900 as it accepts a headset profile. It is possible that your 2 friends have had such installed and bypassed the current system.
If they did indeed have their p900 work, please provide specs. Thanks.

Jim is there anyway you can find out how this was done. I attempted such myself and have been unsuccessful many times. I am willing to pay a reasonable fee for the specs. Thanks.

i will join the line of people interested in finding out how the p900 would work with the TL - please let us know exactly what was done by this fellow to get the p900 to work. i specifically recall having spoken to a sony ericsson rep on the phone who had told me that the phone did not have a HF profile. if there is some way to get the profile on the p900 it would be incredibly useful to many of us.

SonyEricsson has really basterdized the Bluetooth implementation on the P800/P900. As mentioned above, the phone supports the headset profile and it supports the 'office handsfree' (speakerphone) profile but not the handsfree profile.
I have e-mailed them so many times about this and they have sent me a standard reply each time. I think SonyEricsson is going to miss a significant number of sales of this phone because of the piss poor bluetooth support.
I'm thinking seriously about selling mine but there is nothing else out there with a decent PDA and handsfree support.

Are you saying that if the P900's firmware is what you described it will work with any other mods or will it require a little more. Id be happy with just being able to dial, the MID is little concern for me. Thanks so much for your input.
I have the same problem, no other phone comes close.
