I HAVE A 2009 tl and have just ordered the RED 2021 map for my car. Not arrived yet. Can someone explain why the car MUST be running during the loading of the new discs? The Texas dealer just said it was to "assure constant connectivity" which makes little sense to me. Seems like Acura would be smarter than that....making you run your car at idle for 2 hours in the driveway! What can ignition cycles have to do with connectivity?? I asked why one could not use a battery charger during an extended download and just turn ignition to pos. #2. Any insight? Prolonged idling is wasteful and Catalytic converters can run hot. No?

BTW, good to be apart of the forum. First poster here, but far from car forums newbie at 67 years old. Many years on BMW forums and happy as heck to be here. I love my TL! Bill
