new here, already hate bose
new here, already hate bose
Sup guys, new here to the board, I like what I see! just bought a 2001 3.2, can already tell I hate the bose system. I had a previous system in my '94 accord, entailing a head unit, components, and a powered sub (infinity basslink). Nothing serious, but it was all purchased less than 6 months ago. My question is, what am I about to get into? is it nearly impossible to find a trim kit to match the interior? do you have any pics you guys can share so I can decide whether or not I want to attack my ride? thanks for the advice!
welcome to the group. I feel your pain...
I notice that you're not driving a NAVI, so you're waay ahead of the game in terms of agonizing over whether or not to keep your head unit. Just a word of advice, try using the remote audio controls on your steering wheel to see if you can really like 'em or you could live without them. On the last three Acura's that I've owned (including my current CL-S), I kept the head units, and upgraded some or all of the rest (depending on my finances) because I liked the functionality of the remote controls on the wheel. On my CL-S, I've got the NAVI, which is coupled to the OEM head unit, so I really had no choice.
However, if you're an absolute purist, and have to have the absolutely best possible highest, quality sound, then you'll probably want to replace the head unit (which, BTW, ain't Blowz and really ain't that bad).
So, why not try it with the head unit first, and let us know what you think? You can always upgrade to a different one to get the more out of your upgraded power amp and speakers if you're not happy with the results.
That's my $.04...
See, I didn't say, "Do a search."

lol, yeah I realized you could search after I posted, so forgive me for that one...I'm going to check out my options, yes I don't have navi, I wish I had bought a type S but I had to have a vehicle that weekend, and the only S they had was a red one, which is a no-fly zone in my book. I could have ordered a black S, but it would have taken 2 weeks for the options I wanted. ANYWAY, I would like to see any pics you guys might have on custom installations...

Even though I don't own a CL, I feel your pain as far as Bose is concerned. On the Maxima side of the fence, many of us despise the Bose system.
I have not been too big of a fan of Bose systems (home or otherwise) because I feel that Bose is truly overrated.
We also have the issue of steering wheel controls not working when we install aftermarket systems.
