New headunit...what problems?

My 03 TLS has the stock bose system in it. I don't know anything about audio really, but I wanted to buy an Mp3 cd player for it so I went and got a deck at Best Buy, but the installation guy said that I couldn't just replace the headunit alone. I needed to buy a whole new speaker system and wire around to the sub.

He said if I just tried to integrate the headunit, there would be noise issues.

Is this true? If so Im just gonna return the deck to the store and forget about it all.

I don't think thats true I replaced my HU the only thing that doen't work is the Sub which really doesn't bother me because you really dont notice it and Im putting an amp and 2 12"s in so it relly dosen't matter to me. If your going to put in subs in the trunk that one wont matter anymore..

Do you have a MP3 player? (iPod etc?) If so it doesn't sound like you need a whole headunit. Just buy a harness that connects to your factory headunit. Much simpler and easier. Keep voice for Navi, Keep steering wheel controls and keep factory sub..

But to answer your question no you don't need all that. Your stock sub will not work but everything will function except Navi voice, steering wheel controls and sub. You do need the standard wiring harness and dash kit..
