Hey all. I just bought a TL 3.2 used. Of course no owners manual, but no prob since I can view it on line for free. i want to change out the HU and add a sub with 2-12's. any suggestions on what to get without losing too much of the steering column options? Also, just in case I only add the sub, is there a sub out on the factory HU. I know there are no separate controls for the factory sub.

I had the same prob with my Caddy and lost all functionality from the steering column , and even lost some of the other features of the vehicle.

 

Youll lose the controls on the steering wheel unless u get an adapter if u change the H.U. U can get a line inverter to add a sub w/o changing the H.U. and there is a factory sub but no adjustability with it.

 

Just want to say Welcome to acurazine. For the sub replacement, I don't think our HU can handle a aftermarket sub unless you add an amp. Once you go with aftermarket HU, I don't think you would still have the control on the steering wheel.

 

welcome to the club!!! you will lose our steering wheel controls once you replace the factory headunit. they have a kit at some stores(even online) that will let you tap into the steering wheel controls and connect to your new HU. but it's a bigger hassle than just dealing. there's no sub output on the back of the factory HU, again they sell an adapter at local electronic shops that will allow you to connect a sub to the factory HU. check out the DIY threads.
