Post Need Your Input On This Topic

I just need some of you guys imput on this.
I am thinking about getting XM Satellite Radio installed in my car.
I wan't to keep the stock radio & speakers that came with the TL.
I know they have the aftermarket recivers that are about the size of a radar detector that will hook up to existing system in cars.
The $10 a month fee would not be a problem & as XM catches on in newer cars the price will stay near the same I hope unlike cable T.V. I am not at the age where I buy alot of CDs any more so this would be good for me. Since I plan on keeping the car for at least 3 more years I think I will get it done. I just wonder if the factory Nav or the system will interfer with me getting it. I am just kicking around the idea in my head & will save a few dollars to get one this summer. The shop that installed my alarm a few years ago does this so I will give him a call. They generally send me there adds for stereo specials. The last add I got they had XM receiver for reservation this is just before they started brodcasting. I listen to more old CDs than new & when I travel I would like more options. XM has about 100 channels & the list was quite good. www.xmradio.com

I can't speak for how XM radio components will integrate with your existing system, but go to the place that sells it and they should be able to tell you if it will work or not. I see no reason why it shouldn't.

I am definitely going to get XM radio, the concept and pricing is awesome! I finally have an alternative to the endless dribble that is modern day radio. Endless commercials, and TALK TALK TALK TALK. I like hip-hop music, but all these A$$hole DJ's around here do is complain about white people this and white people that, and I'm a victim of racism this and that....

Go with the Sony receiver, it will work in your car and you can unplug it and take it inside and hook it up to your home system.

Post back here when you find out how everything will work with our TL's!

Don't know what you're actual Q is...but I would say if you listen to radio a lot to get it. I know I will be for my onboard computer. Granted they push commercial-less channels but come to find out only 1/3 are commercial-less? But even so the quality is great (you're talking antenna TV versus satellite TV)....multiple audio channels...more stations than you could ever find...blah blah blah...

I guess my question is have some of you thought about getting this option. I wan't to keep the car as stock as possible & did not wan't to change the HU or speakers. The sound is fine for me but I also wonder how it would work with the Navi Voice thing I don't know anything about that. I know some of you have changed your system & have the NAV. I am going to call the guy that installed my Clifford alarm . When I put in my zip for the XM dealer near me that shop comes up 1st. The Antenna Company has a $30 Rebate if you buy the antenna before 4/30/02 so this is a good deal it cost $80. I don't listen to the radio that much as I do Cds. The type of music I listen to is R&B from late 50s through the90s. I listen to Jazz & Blues. Easy listening & others. I don't listen to the radio that much because most of the area stations are playing that RAP. I listen to some of it but not much I think the XM would give me more choices & would be great for travel.

Yep...then I suggest you get it. Those are two of the three big things that XM radio is for...choices and travel (the third is high quality).

Basically, if you can afford it and you will use it, then get it. Bottom line. Let us know how it turns out. Also, what is the alternative competitor to XM...is it Sirius(sp)? I think I heard that one is actually commercial free totally, but might cost more...not sure.

I talked to the installer today he said that it uses FM modulation if I stay with the stock H U. Iam on a buget for this month but told him I would be in to buy the roof mount antenna that has the $30 rebate from the manufacture. Yes the other one is Sirus but not sure what they offer. XM radio is based here in Washington D.C. The installer told me it would cost a bit over $300 & he told me I was a good customer. I spent about $1000.00 on my alarm system a few year ago. I also got new door tweeters put in my ACCORD just before I got the TL. I have also took a neighbors car there to have a new power antenna installed. So I guess I am a good customer. He ask me how much was I on a budget for so I think he was ready to deal. I am tight for money this month & don't want to use credit. I just got my tags renewed & had to pay a speeding ticket last week total $145.00. I just need to find out where to mount the small receiver. I think it has remote control so the trunk would be good.
