I have a 5 channel SoundStream amp (Sound Stream amp pushes 60x4 and 110X1) that I'm having installed along with an aftermarket CD player (Nakamichi) and a 10" Soundstream amp in a sealed box.

Will I have any issues running the 4 stock door speakers off the amp (1 channel for each)? I do plan on replacing the door speakers, but can't at the moment. Has anyone used (or still use) their stock speakers with an aftermarket amp/HU?

This is for a 99 TL.

your stock speakers are designed to handle about 25W RMS each. This setup will work, however i would recommend replacing the speakers asap. Do you have a bose system? if so, the speakers are likely 2ohm, which means youll be pulling closer to 100W per channel from your soundstream. check the impedance on the magnet of the speakers, or with a multimeter on the speaker wire connections.

 

Yeah the speakers may be 1 or 2ohm. You do not want the amp to power those. If they are, save up for the speakers & then get it all done at once. If the speakers are 4ohm you will be ok short term just don't turn them up that loud.

While were on the subject - can you give me a couple of choices of speakers that will fit with little or no modification required. I've seen a number of posts by people using Focal, Boston A, and Infinity. What models are they referring to?
