Need some suggestions
I want to upgrade my sound system to my TSX without changing the HU, I want a system that sounds good mainly for hip hop some rock. I want to get a system that won't require me to get extra amps as well, unless if they could be hidden like stock maybe? Thinking about either Alpine speakers or MB quarts. BTW do you drill in the speakers in? Cuz I think I seen I thread where the stock doors don't have holes for after market speakers?

Two pieces of advice, bay city roller:
1) Read my stickies in Audio. You don't even have to do a goddamned search for this shit.
2) Rap no sound good on amp size of mass-market paperback. Rap need heap big box in trunk for woofer. Woofer need more power, need new amp. Me not make news, me just report news.

WAIT A MINUTE! YOU ARE ASKING FOR SYSTEM DESIGN ADVICE ON AN INTERNET FORUM, AND YOU WORK AT A STORE THAT SELLS CAR STEREOS?
THIS MAY BE THE MOST PATHETIC THING I HAVE EVER HEARD OF! WORSE THAN TOMEI GETTING BEST ACTRESS!
This is the best reason ever to NOT go to Best Buy- for anything. And their POS CEO wants to get rid of the 20% of customers who only want to buy what's unprofitably on sale!
Well, guess what, Best Buy CEO - that's like crack dealers only wanting to sell crack to new users, because the regular customers all act like crack addicts! Why do you think they have this problem? You guys named it Best Buy! You could have named it "Best Gear" or "Best Products" or "Best Staff", but NO, you named it Best Buy! And NOW you're bitching?
I'm El Duderino, and I approved this rant.

Hey, Joe, I identified it as a rant - that and the gratuitous Marisa Tomei reference should show that it's mostly in fun.
With that said, anyone working at a store has access to information - especially system design information - that the standard consumer doesn't have. You can often buy your gear for 50% off of retail. You get special training books written for retailers from the suppliers. Factory tech reps will help you design a system over the phone, troubleshoot problems, and figure out solutions.
Essentially, any electronics store employee has a support system available, that's built into the price of every product that we all buy. It's a shame that it's not being taken advantage of. That's how I started learning - talking to people who were there specifically to help me learn how stuff worked.
I am discounting the Best Buy install shop as a resource... although it could be helpful, as has been pointed out, the reliability of the info is questionable.
Oh, and I really hate Best Buy, in case you missed it: )

At 50% off, you could build a decent system, yah? I wouldn't tell anyone to pay retail for Rockford, but at 50% off through employee accomodation, what's not to like?

Yeah my friend works at best buy and the discount the employees get is ridiculuos. I believe it's 10% above cost. I paid $400 for my car alarm installed and he got an even better one with a pager and only payed $225 installed. They even get a discount on the labor! Labor install is usually one of the most expernsive parts when getting a system, so you can save tons there. If you work at Best Buy than definitely get everything there. You'll get a phat hooked up system for way cheaper than any of us ever could by walking into a car stereo shop.
They don't carry the best stuff, but like Eld said, Fosquate stuff for close to 50% off is hard to beat!
