Need immediate help please (Amp install)
Hi everybody. I bought Chylln's sub and amp. Infinity Kappa Series Sub and the Reference amp (REF41A) i think. Anyway he and I started to install it today. We ran the Power cable through the firewall and all the lines and hooked up the power cable to the red battery cable. Then we grounded the cable on a bolt right under the seats (right passenger side, bolt near a bar that goes across seat). After all of that I found that there are 3 RCA plugs that have a speaker wire end to it...
1. What exactly do I have to plug into what?
2. My power LED is not on, on the amp do I have to change the ground point?
3. What do I do -_-
Thisi s how it should look like (the RCA cables are the 3 blue ones on the left side)

If you dont own a digital voltmeter, please, go buy yourself one at sears or the local auto parts store.
If you dont see +12 VDC when you measure from the positive battery terminal to ground, then I would find a new place to ground.
Another issue might be that the amp is waiting for a signal from the ignition.

yeah, check your ground.. somtimes the bolts under the seats have paint or whatnot on them that blocks the circuit.
edit: you never mentioned anything about hooking up the remote wire. did you connect that up?

Did you run anything to this? The remote turn on signals the amp to shut on and off. Run this wire to either the amp, or tap into a 12v DC power plug if you want the easy way out.
Yea I have a outlet for "Remote", but chllyn said he never used it. I do have a remote (the bass knob that goes to the front, theres 4 RCA connections all hooked up to the RCA's that go to the back.
Okay, I got pictures. May somebody please tell me what to connect?
I have 2 RCA Cables coming from the Volume control knob for the Amp from the front.

I have the following cables.

From the top Down
-Speaker Wire
-RCA Cable
-Another Speaker Wire
-A RCA Input box thing with 2 Speaker wires on the other end
-Same RCA Input Box with 2 speaker wires on the other end

This is the Back of the Amp

the remote outlet between 12+V and Ground needs to be used... that is the single speaker wire in your picture... your amp won't know to turn on/off without that wire... you NEED this wire DEFINITELY!!! tap it into the fuse box or a switched 12+ source...

OMG!.... I installed it... paid circuit city 70 dollars -_- but turns out theres something wrong internally with the amp, I fiddled with it after and I think something is wrong. It turns on, and it thumps... then after another bass note comes in and it goes into protect mode. Also he said there is a missing gold plated RCA connector where the black grommet looking thing is. Did Circuit city lied to me?

I don't know if the amp is really good or bad, but I don't even want to try to walk you through testing that. Find a GOOD shop - not a short circuit city or a worst buy - and have them check the amp.
Odds are the gold plated RCA shield came off on your RCA cable when you unplugged it. Or it was missing when you got the amp.

not trying to offend, but I would hardly say you're good with electrical stuff if you don't know how to hook up an amp...
I mean, it sounds like you don't really know what you're doing at all.
I agree, you probably messed up the amp while hooking it up. Hopefully you DIDN'T follow TSX3pedal's advice earlier in the thread (which was pretty uncalled for, really IMO) cuz that right there would've done it.
FYI: I have the same sub + a similar (lower-end) amp. Make sure your gains are turned all the way down to begin with. Also, try hooking it up via speaker-level instead of RCAs, see if you get different results. For whatever reason, my Reference amp liked the speaker-level inputs a WHOLE lot better than the RCAs.

LMAO that is funny sorry dude
Ive seen too many sloppy installs at Best Buy that I dont even try any more, I do all my shit myself, one thing that really killed it for me to go to them was that when I was out trying to buy just a regular relay from Best Buy for my remote-on wire, and the guy in the install bay didnt know WTF a relay was, I had to come on in and pick it up off the shelf myself, I mean WTF
First of all, lets not bash on his electrical skills. we all know what level he is at.
Second, let's set him straight.
Can you please take some picture on your circuit city installs?
1. It seems like your amp already have high level inputs which is good. All you have to do is splice speaker wires to your rear deck 6x9 and straight into that connector marked High Level Input.
2. Second Option is use the Line level output ( the little box with rca recepticle thingy), connect the speaker wire end to your respective left and right speakers. then connect rca cable from AMP to the clear box RCA recepticles.
3. You will need a remote turn on wire. See the connector between Positive and negative power post on your AMP? Connect that to a switched source, either factory amp turn on or accessary plug.
4. Download the manual for your amp. i look through it, it pretty much tells you everything you need to know.

Is this amp only being used to drive the sub?
If yes, Ultragamma's suggestion is a good one. step 2 shouldn't be necessary though. I think that add's unneeded cost, unless it simplifies your setup to your liking.
If you don't care about the 6x9's, you can disconnect them and feed the wire via an adapter to the amp's hi level input or just splice too.
