Need help with making a plug for Radar...

hey guys, im trying to hardwire my radar detector... but i don't want to hack up my original cig cord because i leave it in my other car when i drive the other car...

im trying to make my own hard wire... i have leftover plugs from a universal AC adapter i bought for desktop speakers... i want to make sure im putting the correct polarity to the right spots.. the lead on the back of the plug is a little longer.. im assuming that is the positive lead...

use a multimeter. with the round part where the plug goes into your radar detecter, the inner core should be positive, the outer core of it should be negative, multimeter one end and the other and see which one gives continuity that will tell you which one is positive which one is negative. For whatever you are doing. Just make sure you know what you're doing.
