Need help locating trunk mount for CD changer

After reading through countless threads about how the HU cant read CD-Rs right and trying a millizon different brands, I decided to go the route of either getting a new HU or a trunk mounted CD-Changer for my 2001 TL with NAV. A friend suggested I look at the CD-changer route and that I should have prewired connectors for a CD-changer in the trunk. Is this true?

The Owner's manual only mentions that a CD changer option is available. All I see in the trunk is the mount for my nav DVD. Am I looking in the wrong place or just looking for something that isn't there?

I'd really appreciate the help. This CD skipping is unbearable.

the wiring will only be there if the car is equippedwith the CD changer, theres no point in running wires through a car that doesnt need them in the 1st place........ were you thinking of maybe a FM Modulated unit or a plug in unit, because im not too sure which brand you need, ALpine would be a good bet on my part though

Thanks G22. I was looking to bypass the other alternatives to skip messing with the head unit. I went to CC and their rep there had no clue. He suggested I buy a new after market NAV unit equipped with mp3 player. A friend suggested I could try this to skip meddling with the HU and doing it myself.
I did find out about the CD changers and Alpine seems to be the most compatible. Thanks again for the response, I guess I should just get an AUX unit and plug in my mp3 player.
