need feedback on sound deadening efforts

FYI. '04 tsx, AT. I've read the sticky page on sound deadening. I used Raam BXT butyl based sheets on both door skins and under the carpet.

I still have plenty of road noise though. My efforts only reduced road noise at hwy speeds by ~2dB, a-weighted.

What are people's results with headliners, undercoats, sound absorption materials, firewall, added coating to wheel well, tinting or other glass linings (lexus adds 1mil extra coating to reduce noise significantly), tires (i have yk520 from discount tire), other ideas?

Thanks in advance for any tips. I don't want to invest in audio upgrades until the noise level is down

On top of the rammat you already have use a foam barrier such as ensolite or ED's teklite. Should cut down alot of the midrange noise as it did for me on my past car.

:\ I just turn up the music.. having my suspension on stiff doesn't help much on the road noise either tho

I've got 2 layers on every door panel & trunk floor, and 3 layers on trunk lid.
Road noise never bothered me though, it was more for the rattle and the extra midbass punch

Thanks for the comments! About the foam, I added ensolite on top of the raam mat on the doors and floors.

I'll probably jack up the car and look for vibrations. Maybe my tires are poor (yk520 from discount tire)?

There's significantly less noise if lower your head below the windows. Has anyone's car been quieter after tinting? Lexus and Ford now use windshields that have thin interlayer of vinyl that lowers the noise by 2-3dB.

As for your tires, I've found my 215/45/17 BFG G-Force Sports a bit softer and quieter than my old 205/55/16 YK520s. YMMV though.

Thanks Shrykhar!
I've looked around and I'm considering a number of second skin products to try. Their sludge product could be handy for the wheel wells, quarter panels, floorpans, and heat shield. the springs ring like a bell so I'll try something on those too.

Anyone use this product with success?
