Need amp install ideas

I need some ideas on where to install an amp in the trunk. I searched and only found a couple of threads talking about this. The amp is about 10x14. I'm considering building a shelf that hangs under the rear deck--but it looks like a tremendous amount of work. (Although I've done it before in another car). Any ideas and/or pictures would be appreciated!

An amp for what? Subwoofers or interior speakers?

If it's for subwoofers, I'd just hook it up on top of the box... Like everyone else. If it's for interior speakers, then do something crazy like hooking it up on the ceiling inside (forget the trunk).:-p

I contemplated that very design for my 3 series. I decided against it because the amp I was using ( JL 300/4) was making some good heat and realized that it wouldn't get enough airflow over it to cool it being up high.

If you decide to install it up there, I would also install a couple of 12v fans. You can get them at any electronics store and should help dissapate the heat.

Good luck

Well, I've started building a shelf--I'll let you know this weekend how it goes. Lot of work...

The amp is a 4-channel MTX for the mains. For now I'm keeping the stock subwoofer.

I did this in my '02 Camry and it worked really well. Part of the work is making sure it doesn't squeak...

The other advantage of the shelf approach is that I also have somewhere to hang the cd changer.
