Need advice on install...
I have an 03 TL w/ navi. I recently installed a JVC kd-avx1. As we all know when you install an aftermarket radio, you lose the navi voice. So far I have only seen one way this has been overcome, and that is by installing a seperately amped small speaker. I am not keen on that idea, and I came across this on crutchfield.
It is an automatic source switcher. It allows for 2 source inputs. When voltage is sensed from Source 1, it will play. However, when voltage is sensed from Source 2, it will automatically switch to Source 2 until the signal ends at which point, it will switch back to Source 1. In theory, this seems to be the perfect solution. My question is this. Because this has RCA inputs, would splicing RCA's onto the navi speaker wires support this, or would I need some kind of "line booster."
I am in the dark on this and I'm hoping the audio guru's on this forum will be able to help me out. Thanks for your input

You would have two problems:
1) How to control nav voice volume? Tis can be fixed with a small Sounddgate preamp.
2) When will it switch? It's not automatic... it needs to see 12V on a wire and I am confident that there isn't a 12 "talking" output from the nav... anyone know of one?

when i hooked my 99tl navi system up to my 99 cl, i used rca cables and spliced them into the output from the monitor, then i hooked the rca's into the audio input.. and it worked fine. however you do have to switch to aux to hear the bitch talk. or you could use the ipod hook up and use an old set of head phones and cut the jack off (giggles) and splice into it that way..
