Navigation Sound / Aftermarket Amp

If I use the stock HU, line level convert the signal (to RCA), send it to an aftermarket amp, new wires to the door speakers, will I lose the navigation audio?

Should I covert the signal after the EQ? Where does the navigation audio tap into the door speakers?

I did a search and got some mix results. From what I gather, the Nav audio is pumped into the system through the factory HU. If I covert the signal out of the radio (prior to the EQ) I should retain the audio.

I'm just wondering if the audio is pumped into the system after the HU. Or is the Navi audio pumped directly into the speakers? I don't know... hehehe.

Someone help.

Brian,
The Navi signal is sent to the HU. So if you do as you described, you will not lose nav audio.

I ran two pairs of speaker wire from my amp to the harness up front and tied into the factory wires to drive my fronts. The rear channel was tapped into behind the inertia reels.

are you planning on bypassing the EQ?

Here's my install:

clicky

Good luck.

Brian,

It sounds like you are planning to get the signals from the speaker outs which should work w/out the bypass if you plan on keeping the stock speakers. If you plan to upgrade the speakers, though, you might consider it. The factory EQ will make aftermarket speakers sound very "tinny". Also, if you keep the factory speakers(which are very cheaper paper cones), be carefull how much power you throw at them.

Cheers,
Iggy
