97 3.0 cl bose question

I'm not sure if I should replace my bose system or just keep it. Originally I wanted to just add an amp and sub but was told that it wasn't reccomended. I was about to replace the whole system but no one would give me advice on how to over ride the stock amp. Basically no one is giving me any information so that I may make and educated decission. I've installed many variations of systems in my 91 civic si due to many break ins, but am very confused when it comes to bose.

You should do a search on the First Gen forum.....

They had a topic about this earlier this year (2004).

There are way's to bypass the amp, while keeping the stock speakers. I have an aftermarket head unit, stock BOSE speakers, and a kicker solobaric sub. I forgot what they did, but I think they re-wired the car to the head unit instead of the amp.

There are more educated people with better explanations, I just know that it can be done

Something about an FAI3 was used....or something like that.

Sorry if I was useless
