TL: Navigation off by a mile
Navigation off by a mile
Hello,
I have a 2004 TL, factory navigation. I had my battery disconnected while replacing my starter. Ever since, my navigation shows my car about a mile south and 1/4 mile east of my actual location. I have tried diconnecting the battery and restarting. I tried clearing the memory through the diagnostics feature (holding map/guid, menu, and cancel buttons). I even reinstalled an older nav disc to see if it made a difference. It always puts me back off the same amount. I also have tried to correct position in the nav menu. Sometimes it immediatley goes back to the incorrect position, sometimes it stays for a mile or so and then goes back. I have went through the diagnostics items and everythings shows green. I ordered a new GPS antenna off amazon because it was cheap and showed up in a day, figured it was worth a shot to see if anything changed. The new antenna didn't work at all, couldn't find any satellites. I reinstalled the factory one and it finds plenty of satellites, just the position is off. I have owned the car about a year before this happened and the position has always been right on and I have had the battery disconnected before with no issue. Any ideas? I ordered another Amazon antenna to try, maybe I got a dud but since it seems to be detecting satellites, I think the antenna is ok. Sorry for rambling but I am stumped.

I tried a different antenna. Same result. Does anyone know if a bad or going bad alpine unit in the trunk could cause this or something with the unit in the dash? Surely somebody has had a similar problem.
