Navigation coverage

Does anyone know how I can verify whether my part of the country is covered by the TSX navigation system? I live in a "semi-rural" area (South Bend, IN). A friend who drives a CL Type S skipped on Navi a couple of years ago because his dealer told him there was no coverage around here.

Thanks

According to my navigation system guide the following areas of Indiana are fully mapped:
  • Gary/Hammond Metropolitan area
  • Indianapolis Metropolitan area
  • Kokomo Metropolitan area

Disappointing fact

All I could say is....Oh My F*cking Gud.......I went snowboarding during the weekend and I used the Navi for direction. I neglected to check the route using Yahoo Maps or Mapquest. What came up is the Navi showed me a fucking long route that normally took me 40 minutes to arrive last year to 1 1/2 hour this time.....It showed me some freaking weird route going thourgh roads with no lights, housing area around the mountains. I try all the option and it gave all weird routes.....I doubt I will even trust the Navi again...A 25 mile trip turned out to be 40 miles from the Navi......WTF....very disappointing fact that makes me regret giving in 2K for the gud dam nav.....

I nominate this for best drama post of early 2004.

The bottom line is not weird results as far as routing - it is did the navi get you there? Apparently it did, even if it was off by 15 miles.

The Navi only had the data that it comes with to work on. In my April 2003 production TSX I have a 2002 disc for the Navi. Until Acura releases a new one I either deal with it or make an idiot out of myself and appear uninformed by making comments about not trusting my navi.

Much the same way that Yahoo, etc. also make mistakes and even go so far as to give you disclaimers that you should not rely 100% on their directions. I have had Yahoo route me the wrong way on one-way streets and tell me I should be turning across divided roads with no access. Should I be bitching like an idiot about Yahoo?

BTW, doesn't the nag screen also warn you about routing? I'm not positive about this one.

When in doubt, go old skool and get a paper Atlas. Especially if you're traveling through an unfamiliar area.

the whole point of the navi is it gets you to the destination, if you already know where your going then why use it? when i want to go a speciffic route i turn off the auto recalaulate feature and then allow it to recalculate when i get to a point in my route closer to the destination where i need the help of the navi.
usually i know the approximate area and direction im headed then allow the navi to finish off the trip.

Well...i thought the Navi will get the shortest route......and I used it because I forgot the way there.........or else I wouldn;t have trusted it...well......I don;t think I will use it if I am travelling to unfamiliar places (other words, will never use it again)
