I thought that first two updates for the Navi are free of charge, but it seems to me that I was wrong. It looks like Acura has an update for 2000 navi equipped cars selling for $150.00 from www.acura.com
What's up with that?

I was told when purchasing down in Orange County, the next update is 2002 or 03.

$56 bucks.

I just spoke to Acura Customer Service this afternoon. The deal is that they erroneously suggested on their web site that the DVD they're offering is new. In fact, it is the same (and only) one which has been sold with every DVD-based NAV system in TL's, CL's and RL's. He claims, correctly, that if you click through to the ordering screen, you'll see that the version of the database being offered it 1.06, which is the same one you have in your car. He also admitted, that the verbiage on the web site suggesting that the new DVD is available is unfortunate and will be changed. From what I've heard they're offering refunds to anyone who ordered the DVD believing they were getting something new.

The free updates applied only to the hard disk-based systems in the 99 TL and RL. Acura never claimed (and I looked) that updates for the DVD-based system are free.

The customer service person told me that a new DVD is expected sometime around November. Note that this is consistent with what a number of people on this board heard earlier in the year.

Thanks a lot for making this clear. This puts Acura customer services to shame for making misleading statements regarding Navi updates.

Just picked up a 2000 TL with Nav last Saturday and just checked the Nav DVD disk and the version on it is 1.09J.

Actually, I incorrectly reported the version in my earlier post. The version on mine, as reported in the information screen is:

Database Version: ADB0520
Software Version: 1.09

I got mine on 6/15/00. It had just come off the truck, so it was presumably manufactured sometime in May at the earliest.
