Navi problem
Navi problem
Is anyone's navigation off position. Mine does that once in a while, it stopped but now its back. I'm no where close to where im suppose to be! Is there a fix to this?
How far off is your location? Yards? Miles?
There is a nav system diagnosic mode you can enter through a combination of display button presses. Maybe that would give you some clues. Search the forum for details on how to do that.

2000 acura tl. This problem used to happen everytime when we used the gps a while ago, and it would be miles off. Then like all of a sudden it fixed itself without me doing anything. And it's been like a year and now its off again. Its like on and off though, sometimes its in the right location and other times it isn't.
This same thing happened to my friend's mom's Honda Oddysey, same year and same gps.

I recently did a navigation conversion on my 03 CLS and had a few problems before getting it perfect.
Does your navigation still route you correctly and re-route if you go off course? The system uses GPS and vehicle speed to determine your map position. A intermittent failure of either can/will cause your problem.
If you enter the diagnostic mode, the system will show you how many satellites the antenna sees. Up to eight. You can also check to see if all components are connected.
There's another menu in diagnostic mode that will show you if the VSS is working. Should say off while your stopped and on while moving.
I didn't hook up the VSS wire originally during my conversion and my vehicle position was always off. Also, the navigation would not re-route or give me guidance throughout the route. Its hook up and working now so all is good.
If all checks out OK, maybe software reload.

How do i get to the diagnostic mode, i searched and read somewhere hold the 3 buttons. What 3 buttons? Also my gps will still give me directions and recalculate, but it will just be from the wrong spot so it is kinda useless.
If it gives you directions and re-routes you, then your VSS signal is working fine. Without the VSS (vehicle speed sensor) signal, the navigation will not route you properly. You would get directions from a different starting point, somewhere you were already. It also wouldn't know when you started on your course so it wouldn't re-route or give turning directions.
To enter the diag mode you can do one of two things. Press menu, guide, and cancel. Do it like this: with the ignition to the on position, Press MENU and hold, while still holding down MENU press GUIDE and hold, and while still pressing MENU AND GUIDE press CANCEL and hold. Try to do this within 5 seconds total. Give it a few seconds. If the diag mode doesn't come up, take a paper clip and find the service connector hanging behind the navi drive in the trunk. You have to jump the two pins in the service connector to enter the diag mode. Leave the paper clip in there untill you are finished and then pull it out.
BE CAFEFUL what you do in diag mode. Don't mess with the yaw settings or anything like that. Its pretty self explanitory once you enter diag mode. Just be careful and take your time. There is a system check which will check the communication lines between all the components in the navi system. Also there is a GPS menu that allows you to see how many sats are being used.
If everything looks to be ok, I would do a force download and reload the system. Not to sure, but that may wipe out you personal addresses. YOU WILL NEED THE CODE for the navi system if you reset it. Let me know if I can help anymore.
Also, what disc version are you using? I had 2.05 and had a few bugs in the software. I bought a 2.30 disc cheap locally and all is good now. I'm actually surprised how well it works considering the reviews I've read here from others.
