Navi needs stock radio???

hi guys I am thinking of installing a new head unit and speakers all around, amp included. I was told by a local installer that the stock radio needed to remain in the car hooked up to still hear the voice and dings of the navi ... Is this true? To install a full suystem you loose audible commands from navi?

Has anybody had issues with this and what did you do? Thx guys and any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried searching other posts and have had no luck ... surely someone has delt with this... I'd really like to not loose the navi function.

Also side note... Are there any issues with installing aftermarket speakers That will get a 2 Ohm load from the stock deck? I had some Memphis components and now the driver side only plays very low volume.. I already checked balance and fader, no probs.. Because of this I was looking at installing everything new and much better. This is where i run into the problem of loosing the navi sounds..... Ohhhhh my issues #@!*&%! I need some help....

anyhow, I was looking at possibly getting a 2002-2003 TL one with NAV (my wife has a 2002 MDX w/NAV which I REALLY like). Anyhow, this was a link that I found on the MDX board. In it there's someone who supposedly has an interface that makes the navigation voice work again after you replace the stock HU. I haven't tried it myself AND I haven't had a chance to contact Ron...

oh the link to the Ody Club solution that's on there supposedly gives the wires that are used for the navigation voice. personally, I'm looking for something more like the interface that will work more like the stock NAV and HU setup. Probably something more along the lines of the interface that they mentioned on the MDX board.
