Nakamichi??
I'm new in this car stereo jazz but are Nakamichi equipment good (subs etc..). I know they put them in Lexus' and i hear they have some crazy sound. If not, can someone advise me on the companies by rating in general (eg. Kenwood is cheap but...). Thanks a lot.

Unfortunately, there are too many variations between brands and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Nakamichi makes some awesome CD players (don't stray too far into the rest of the line). Kenwood has got some of the best looking, feature packed decks on the market. Unfortunately, they are difficult to use and their CD sections are pickier than most. Right now, Pioneer has the BEST amplifier section of anything available. The displays in their higher end decks is awesome, but the rest of the unit is fairly unimpressive. Blaujunk, I mean Blaupunkt has one of the most impressive tuners but they could use some cosmetic work. Before anyone gets too upset, I sell Blau and have frequently used that term in front of Blau reps referring to their black days in Best Buy. Another story for another day. Sony makes a solid deck all the way around, but no one thing sticks out as real impressive. And I could go on forever. Find a reliable specialty shop, look at their work, talk to them, listen to everything they have to offer at every price range, and then decide what works best for you. Any specific questions, I'll be happy to answer. Good luck and happy listening.

Actually, I am an Eclipse dealer and I have full access to the complete Alpine line. Eclipse is the only CD player that I have used in the last 6 years and will continue to be when I buy a new one. I try to keep most of my comments fairly objective, which is why I don't comment on most of my brands.

Yeah i'd go with the eclipse decks too i would have if i didn't buy the Clarion 9255...In fact i still may go with an Elipse in my Land Cruiser...But the Nak systems are sweet...I love their speakers plus they are nicely priced...

Eclipse has been the way to go for me. My last system in my 94 Accord EX coupe; Eclipse 5303, 2X Rockford fosgate 200.2, Diamond Audio Hex, and 3 JL 10w6. I never done any real competition's but I did win all the component's for my Grand cherokee at local competition's.(Mobilework's,DOW,Circuit city, Goodguys) This year I think I will try my hand at DB drag's with my new system. Maybe IASCA amateur.
