Myron & Davis Navi/Steering Control

I know quite a few people have modified their cars with an aftermarket DVD player
Seems like Myron & Davis is a popular one. I got the install done in my car, however I think user interface is very clumsy when it comes to playing mp3s or music videos that are stored on a DVD. You have to use the remote in order to browse through the folders, and thats tough to do if you have a manual trans.

Has anyone investigated if there is a way to control the DVD player through the steering wheel mounted buttons. I know the player has a wire where you plug in the infrared remote sensor. Is there possibly an adapter that you can buy in order to use the buttons on the steering wheel??

I would say the chance of there being an adapter is very slim. The number of people who would want the steering wheel controls to run to a m&d infrared input are slim.

I had a myron and davis dvd player for about a week. I hated it.

What about Swix Steering Wheel Converter

Seems like it would work with Myron & Davis DVD Player. It says that its compatible with 2005 TSX. I have an 06, but I am sure its the same.

I have this dvd player, only because it fits perfect in the TSX pocket. I only use it for DVD's, and I don't care for it. Yes it does it's job, but mine seems to take about 15-60 seconds to load once I power it up. It seems to always be confused were it left off at and you can hear it searching while my kid is screaming spongebob at the stupid myron davis wallpaper screen.

I don't know how it is for 2005, but in 06 tsx, the cubby compartment is not a perfect square, its more of a trapezoidal shape, where the smaller part of the trapezoid is at the bottom of the cubby. So I had to cut a big chunk of the cubby in the back for Myron and Davis player to fit in and even then, I had to really push it in. I have another regular din sized cd player and there is no way it would have fit in the cubby. You would have to make your own bracket or whatever. Thats why I bought this player.

Playing mp3s is a big pain, because you have to browse with the remote and you can't skip to the next or previous track with player mounted controls and it takes two push buttons to go the next track with the remote. You can however skip tracks with player mounted controls if you are playing a DVD or playing music videos. When in mp3 mode, it displays the browsing screen, so when you hit next track button on the dvd player itself, it acts as a page down in the browsing screen, so it skips 5 or so songs. You still have to hit play button in order for it to play the 5th song down.

Also it forgets the display option when playing music videos if you change a folder or put in another cd/dvd. So it displays the time elapsed on top of the video and you have to push 2 buttons on the remote to get rid of it. So you have to do this everytime you change between folders.
