My Navigation Clock Doesn't Work Because My Navigation is Broken?

I just bought a 03' TL and I think the drive for the navigation is broken. I get the
DVD disc reading error,
(unformated)
Please consult your dealer.
That most likely means my drive is done right? I tried to use a CD lens cleaner but you have to play a track on the CD to really clean it so I'm not really sure how to use it. I just put it in and waited a bit. If you guys have a solution to fix the Navigation other than buy a new drive, that would be great. I know I could try resetting the system too but I don't have the codes.
Anyways, since my navi doesn't work, my clock doesn't work either. What a dumb design. My clock stays at 00:00 And when I go to setup, it doesn't allow me to go to the second screen because my navi doesn't work so I don't even have a clock in my "Luxury" TL. Anyone know how to fix this? or do I just have to get my Navi fixed in order to see the time?
Thanks in Advance.

This happened to me twice since i was slappin too hard :/. Sent it in to pioneer and got it fixed for 170$ (Acura quoted 2000$ - I guess Acura just replaces the whole unit)

If you really need me to I can dig up their number, otherwise I believe you can just call Pioneer support and they'll transfer you to the right department.

Wow for $2,000 from Acura to fix it, i'll just buy a stick on digital clock for $10, and a Tom Tom for a couple of hundreds and still save myself alot of money

Yeah I have a garmin, but what's the point of having a navi in the car that doesn't work? I was actually considering buying a little clock and taping it on my car. But I thought it was Alpine that fixes your navi not Pioneer.

Yeah i know what you are saying. I thought Alpine made it too. You can try this number 1800 382-2238 or E-mail them at NAVI@AMERHONDA.COM and see if they can help you with something.

Not sure if you have already tried this but double check to make sure you have the correct disc in the unit. I'm not sure if it makes a difference or not but when I used to work at Lexus people would come in with error messages and many times it turned out to be the wrong disc. People many times swap discs out to upgrade, especially when cars are sitting on the lot, and many times they are not interchangeable between models even though it says Acura on it. Good luck and let me know if this works

not sure if this helps but I ran across a nav dvd drive that should fit your car on ebay by mere luck. the part # is 39540-S0K-A110 and they state they offer a warranty. check it out but it ends in 16 hours. here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/00-03...fAudioQ5fVideo

Yeah I am watching that on my account. I wanna get it cause its not that expensive but I can save that money. I think I'm not going to get it since I already have a Garmin. Thanks though. But I guess no one knows how I can change my clock settings without my Navi DVD working. I tried going into the secret menu but no where there to change the settings.

Secret menu? Might sound stupid but what is that and how do you access it?

yeah you hold those 3 buttons and you get to it. You can see a lot of settings on your car through there.

BUMP!

My navi is playing tricks on me. It never worked yet. But I took my Navi DVD out for a few days and today I tried cleaning the inside of the drive with compressed air, then the cd cleaner and then I put the Navi DVD in and BAM the time showed up. It was a hour behind because of daylight savings but at least I had something to work with instead of 00:00. Then the unformated DVD Contact Stealer showed up and my time went to 00:00. I guess there is really no way to use my clock. A luxury car that doesn't even tell time. What do you guys use your navi screen for other than AC? I'm saving up til I feel financially confident until I fork up the $150 to send it to Alpine.
