mute all speakers with nav

i was wondering if anyone knew how to mute all the speakers with the nav. After putting in an aftermarket amp, my music is often too loud to hear them telling me where to go. To my understanding there are only 3 wires in the nav audio unit harness that is used. I would think that you would splice them to additional wires?

WHAT???

1) I'm not clear on your problem.

If your problem is you can't hear the nav instructions, turn the volume up in the menu.

2) There are a shitload of navi wires. Your info is bad.

3) You would need to mute music, but NOT navi... doubtful.

4) My advice is stay away from those wires...

K.. so for peopel with nav.. in the center console where you typically install the shond3, there are two ports..

nav port audio unit port
---wire----

If you have no devices you have this one wire. If you look at the wire only 3 wires are being sued

nav port audio unit port
--3/10 wires used only ------------------

Cuz when you do the nav/shond3 nav hack, you ahve to splice the wires and you only splice 3 of them.

And when I notice the nav giving directions, only the front speakers are muted.. i think it's cuz the 3 wires its using are connecting to the front speakers.

see.. cuz i think if the music is louder, the nav should mute more of the sound.. however it doesn't. I don't want to turn up the nav volume cuz when im driving with the music low, it's freaking loud.

I'm only speaking of splicing that one cable.. NOT all of the nav wires behind the nav console.

I believe that the reason the navi voice is only over the front speakers is the design of the navi head unit, NOT the wires that are spliced into.

I guess Alpine didn't think the rear passengers needed to hear the directions : )

I don't think you're changing this one. Sorry.
