mp3 receiver question

Are there any cd receivers out there that you can also just plug in an external mp3 player like an ipod and play all songs on the mp3 player through your cd player? I'm buying a new receiver and getting an mp3 player so if they could be connected that would be great. Let me know if you guys know of anything about this.

Panasonic and JVC ring a bell off the top of my head... certain models have a mini-jack input right on the faceplate. The JVC Digifine models have front and rear inputs (mini jack on front, RCA on rear). With Alpine, you can use a $15 adapter (from alpine) to get an auxillary input, which plugs into the rear of the unit and gives you left & right RCA inputs. Blaupunkt and Kenwood also have an adapter available.

Keep in mind, a lot of CD recievers today also have the capability to play MP3 files off a CD... you can put about 100 songs on a single CD. Just some food for thought.

Yeah i know I can just burn mp3s but I'm looking to get rid of having to keep cd's in my car. I've had nothing but problems with things getting stolen out of my cars so if it's portable it's good. How does the Alpine thing work because that's what I'd really rather go with. Their products are the best.

the adapter plugs into the ai-net cable on the back of the headunit and has left and right RCA connectors on it. Then in the menu on the deck you select "AUX ON" and you can also select a name for it (VCR, TV, AUX, GAME...) When you hit the source button on the deck you'll toggle between the radio, cd player and the aux input. The cheaper adapter ($15) does not allow you to add a changer or XM radio... but they do have a more expensive adapter that allows a changer or XM (or both) to be used, and still have an auxillary input. I believe that adapter is around $60.
