Mounting antenna for navigation

I'm going to be installing a eclipse avn5500 in my 02 tl-s soon and was wondering where i should mount the antenna for the navigation? I searched around and didnt find much about this. All you people with aftermarket dvd/nav units, where did you mount your antenna and how is the reception?

I mounted the antenna for my Avic D3 right under the front dash in my truck. literally taped it upside down under the top of the plastic dash, so its has a clear line up sight up through the winshield, but is concealed by being under the dash. I figured .5 inches of plastic shouldn't hurt reception that much, and it doesnt'. I get ~75% signal strength on 3-4 satellites all the time, which is more than enough.

I have heard the most preferential place to put it, for reception purposes, is the rear shelf.

Nav antenna is sitting on the front dash, I don't think it looks bad and it gave me the best reception....Barely noticable unless you are inside the car, from the outside not much of an eye catcher...I have a z1...
