About the only thing I do not like is that I had to use the ISO-Din mount. I really do not like the bend and snap cages or ISO-Din. I prefer to screw the head unit into the dash. The TL just does not allow this. I may look at drilling some holes in the factory bracket to see about getting at least one screw a side in there.
I think for what this kit cost, it is a super deal. I paid $16 for this kit. How can you go wrong with that. I know others may not like it and think it looks cheasy but, I personally love it.

You do lose the steering wheel control right? Just a reason I thought of to keep the stock deck. Even though its sucks but when you have no money a new deck isn't a option.
Nice Kit and Deck though!!

Wow what a fit for only 16 bucks. The only problem (being critical here for a sec) is the kit is made with the typical black textured ABS plastic so the surface isnt smooth and the color doesnt match the TL dash, which has a slight color to it along with tiny speckles. But at this price everyone's gonna finally toss their BOSE head.
IF only someone in the auto paintshop business would come up with a perfect color paint match for the dash, you could buy a tiny pint of the paint and use one of those $8 disposable aerosol sprayers and bingo, it would look totally stock....

But I made my 'kit' out of the factory headunit:
My camera sucks but you get the idea. The color match is not bad, especially since the headunit didn't match originally. Am I the only one that noticed/has that? My CD tray didnt match the CD tray holder, for that matter. I would get one of these metra's for sure, smooth and paint and it would look tight.
I don't think it's being picky personaly I hate it when sh!t don't match...Question am feeling the kit...is their a wood kit that's design to fit around it...Flush it out with the wood look and am sure it would flush...Any info or thoughts???

does the cage for the headunit screw in the factory holes? can you position it (back, forward) or does it only go in one place?
how much wider are the factory brackets than a 1 din unit
the metra kit looks damn clean to me

hellas...No the cage does not screw into the factory brackets. No holes line up in the proper spot. I made some brackets before I had the Metra Kits that allowed me to bolt the radio directly to the factory brackets.
I now use the 2 plastic ISO-Din brackets that comes with the kit. They screw into the side of the radio and then the hole thing snaps into the kit. I could move my head unit forward but, not backwards, I do not think. It would depend on how many different mounting holes you have in your head unit that matches the ISO-Din brackets.

Are these available online yet? I've just realized that my Alpine EQ was hurting my system more than helping it.
As such, I need a new dash kit that doesn't have an EQ cutout. Since the current one was $200, that's money pissed in the wind. Live and learn.
I'm definitely not impressed with what I see concerning the color match. Hell, I thought mine was bad. I might have to take the Metra kit into the shop and see if I can sand and paint it to get a little better match than what I'm seeing. Then again, for under $30 you sure as hell can't complain!!
I'll be happy to sell mine for $100 if you want an EQ with your HU!!
